Photovoltaic Industry Has Been on the New Development Track and Jinergy's HJT May Take the Lead

In order to promote the development of HJT cell technologies, Seminar on Key Technologies of HJT Cell Industry Chain organized by Mole Photovoltaic was held in Beijing on October 19. Jinergy, the leading PV modules manufacturer in Shanxi, was invited to attend this seminar. Gaofei LI, technology director of Jinergy, made a speech themed byTechnical Progress of Mass Production of Crystalline Silicon—A-Si HJT cell and shared Jinergy’s progress and experience in HJT mass production.

Yanrong LIN, chief analyst of PV InfoLink, pointed out that among the four N-type technologies including N-PERT, TOPCon, HJT and IBC, technology and cost control of IBC and TOPCon have not been mature in China; although the mass production of N-PERT has been realized, it is not as good as P-type bifacial PERC in consideration of cost performance. On the whole, HJT has more significant advantages and is expected to become the mainstream technology to lead the next era of photovoltaic efficiency. Therefore, the leading enterprise that has mastered this technology will take the lead in the next round of competition.

As China’s first manufacturer that has realized HJT mass production, Jinergy has borne some good results in HJT mass production. The maximum efficiency of the mass production of Jinergy’s HJT batteries has exceeded 24%, and the average yield of mass production is 97.6%. Without resorting to efficiency-promoting technologies like half-cut, MBB and other modules, the maximum power of 60-cell single-sided modules in mass production is up to 332.6W, and bifaciality reached 89.61%. Under the same floor area, the power generation gain of projects using HJT modules and flat single-shaft supports is 50-70% higher than that of projects using polycrystalline modules and fixed supports.

In the future, the production cost of HJT cell will be reduced significantly, bringing a breakthrough reduction in LCOE. In the face of this market prospect, Gaofei LI, technology director of Jinergy, said, “In order to solve the problem that HJT cell is restricted by production line incompatibility and high cost, we have been devoted to cost reduction in the aspects of silicon wafers, conductive silver pastes, TCO target materials, velvet additives and equipment and achieved preliminary results. The overall cost gap between HJT products and monocrystalline PERC is expected to be 20% in 2018, and it is expected to be reduced to less than 10% in the future.”
