Shanxi's New Energy Industry Maintains Stable Development and JINERGY's Efficient PERC Photovoltaic Cell Takes the Lead Worldwide

—A new breakthrough in cell efficiency with back passivation technique and the pilot test efficiency of JINERGY's mono-crystalline PERC cell up to 21.36%

At present, Shanxi Province is endeavoring to jump out of the dilemma that coal is the dominance, and actively developing the industry of new energy resources like solar power and wind power, in the hope of building a new-type national comprehensive energy base. In addition, the data publicized by Shanxi Electric Power Company also indicates that the new energy industry witnesses a rapid development, and as of December 20, 2015, the yearly accumulative solar power generation has reached up to 637.54 million kWh and the new energy generation has reached up to 10.05671 billion kWh, accounting for about 5.61% of the total directly-dispatched power generation of the power grid of Shanxi.

For the purpose of further acceleration of the development and application of Shanxi's new energy industry, the upgrade of the high-end new energy manufacture technology to keep pace with the internationally advanced technology shows a great strategic significance. Recently, Jinneng Clean Energy Technology Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as JINERGY), the No. 1 photovoltaic module manufacturer of Shanxi, announced the pilot test efficiency of back-passivated mono-crystalline PERC cell innovated and developed by it has reached 21.36%, higher than the average 20.6-20.9% efficiency of the same technologies in the industry, taking the lead worldwide.

According to the person in charge of the technology research and development of JINERGY, JINERGY's back passivation technology is mainly to develop a layer of aluminum oxide film via atomic layer deposition on the back surface of a cell and use the rich negative charges to realize good passivation on the back surface as well as do positioned opening for the laminated film developed on the back surface through laser grooving so as to effectively collect the charge carriers after metallization. This technical product is provided with such features as higher photoelectric conversion efficiency, high open-circuit voltage, and better low-light reaction.

In fact, the efficiency and the cost of the photovoltaic cell has been always the focus of the insiders’ attention. On the basis of the calculation by researchers, when the efficiency of the solar cell increases by 1%, the corresponding system cost will reduce by about 5%-6%. This time a new breakthrough has been made in the efficiency of the mono-crystalline back-passivated cell independently developed by JINERGY, which will help to improve the Company’s own core competitiveness and profitability and expectedly further the market share of mainstream products and which will also mean the new energy industry of Shanxi is reaching the world first-class standard.

At present, Shanxi Province is speeding up the research and the preparation of preferential policies to encourage the development of the new energy industry, and actively pushing distributed energy resources as well as exploring and popularizing various technological innovations like intelligent power grid, complementation among several energy resources, and energy storage, to form a multi-wheel-driven new energy supply system of wind power, photovoltaic power, and coal bed methane power. In 2015, the installed capacity of photovoltaic power generation in Shanxi Province has reached 775,000 kW, growing by 158.33% on a year-on-year basis.
