Recently, the results of the 2025 Shanxi Provincial Enterprise Innovation Cases selection were released. The project "Development and Application of Domestic Magnetron Sputtering Equipment for High-Efficiency Heterojunction Solar Cells" submitted by the PV Technology Company affiliated with Jinneng Clean Energy Technology Ltd. was successfully selected. This highlights the company's R&D strength and innovation-leading role in the high-end photovoltaic equipment sector, and sets an example for the high-quality development of Shanxi’s energy technology industry.
The selection was jointly evaluated by seven authorities including Shanxi Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, Shanxi Provincial Department of Science and Technology and Shanxi Provincial Department of Federation of Trade Unions. It aims to identify and promote outstanding achievements of provincial enterprises in tackling key core technologies and realizing their industrial application.
This project addresses long-standing bottleneck in the photovoltaic industry, where core production equipment for high-efficiency HJT cells has long been monopolized by foreign suppliers, marked by high costs and severe technological blockades. Adopting an innovative R&D model of independent design plus manufacturer collaboration, the R&D team joined hands with domestic equipment manufacturers to carry out systematic research on magnetron sputtering equipment, breaking through a series of key technical bottleneck, such as the stability design of large carrier. Through structural innovation and process integration, the independently developed equipment has achieved multiple breakthroughs, including industry-leading deformation control of carrier, improved cell photoelectric conversion efficiency, and extended target service life. This equipment has been operating stably on the production line, with its production capacity reaching four times that of comparable imported equipment, only half the price, and a 0.3% higher cell conversion efficiency, truly realizing high-performance, low-cost, fully independent domestic substitution. Up to now, the company has obtained 17 technological achievements patented by the China National Intellectual Property Administration, forming a complete independent intellectual property rights system. It has also driven multiple enterprises to engage in the mass production of HJT cells, providing solid equipment support for cost reduction and efficiency improvement in the photovoltaic industry and the transformation of the energy structure.
