Jinergy successfully launched 4GW annual production of N-Type cells

On September 27, 2023, Jinneng Clean Energy Technology Ltd. (“Jinergy” or “Company”) successfully launched the 4GW (Phase 1) Tunnel Oxide Passivating Contacts (TOPCon) high-efficiency solar cell production line at its Jinzhong facility! The commissioning of this project signifies that Jinergy's advanced solar cell and module capacity accounts for over 80%, placing them at the forefront of the N-type iteration in the photovoltaic industry. ZHANG Jie, Secretary of the Communist Party of China Committee and Board Chairman of Jinergy, and Dr. Yang Liyou, General Manager of Jinergy, attended the launch ceremony.

Jinergy's Jinzhong facility employs cutting-edge network information technology and 5G networks in the TOPCon intelligent manufacturing cell production line. By standardizing and integrating data from Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Manufacturing Execution System (MES), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), and Office Automation (OA) systems, the three-tier intelligent manufacturing system enables synergy between the decision-making, execution, and control layers. The introduction of automated guided vehicles (AGV) in the smart workshop system allows for automated material handling, while the AGVs are scheduled for transport. Through flexible line configuration, lean production management and dynamic process optimization, precise, real-time and closed-loop control is achieved, enhancing production efficiency through intelligent collaborative operations.

As the cost of photovoltaic electricity continues to decline, N-type products demonstrate more evident advantages over P-type products in terms of high efficiency, high power, low attenuation and low system costs. With relatively lower investment in assembly lines, TOPCon technology has become the preferred choice for manufacturing and system investment terminal equipment in the photovoltaic industry. For this project, Jinergy adopts the advanced N-type TOPCon 3.0 high-efficiency cell technology, employing high-quality ultra-thin silicon oxide (SiOx, about 1.5 nm) and phosphorus-doped polysilicon (poly-Si) layers for effective backside passivation and selective carrier collection. The front side utilizes aluminum oxide and other materials to form a composite passivation layer, along with the overlay of micro-loss heavily-doped selective emitter (SE) technology. The mass production conversion efficiency of the cells can reach 25.5% or higher, which is 2% higher than P-type PERC products, resulting in a 20W increase in power for the same area module.

Jinergy remains focused on the present while keeping an eye on the future, with technological innovation as the driving force for sustainable development. The Company adheres to the "generation for mass production, generation for pilot testing, and generation for research and development" technology iteration strategy. While maintaining advanced capacity, Jinergy is also actively researching cutting-edge technologies such as heterojunction (HTJ) and perovskite tandem cells. In the future, Jinergy will continue to enhance its market competitiveness, promote the use of green energy, and contribute to the realization of the carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals on the path to energy transformation.
