Focus on Global PV Leaders Dialogue: the Integrated Power of Jinergy’s HJT Reaches 570W

On August 7, the 14th SNEC PV Power Expo kicked off. Dr. Liyou Yang, General Manager of Jinergy, was invited to attend the Global Green Energy Leaders Dialogue session. At the session, Dr. Liyou Yang, together with well-known experts, scholars and enterprise representatives, discussed the new trends and opportunities of industry development in the new era, and shared the latest progress of Jinergy’s HJT mass production technology.

As photovoltaic power and wind power enter the era of comprehensive parity, market regulation plays a more and more important role, and the competition would ultimately depend on the LCOE (levelized cost of energy). Photovoltaic industry is in a critical period, from relying on subsidies to grid parity. The industry is becoming more and more intensive and professional. Only by keeping a leading position in both scale and technology can an enterprise develop better in the industry.

Dr. Liyou Yang pointed out that the photovoltaic industry would still need great breakthroughs in technology to leap from high-speed development to high-quality development. In each link of photovoltaic technology, photovoltaic efficiency is the most important because it affects the cost of the whole system. Therefore, cost and efficiency must be considered simultaneously. In addition, there is still room for refinement at the system end, and there is also much room for improvement at the application end, such as construction and application scenario optimization, etc., which needs the cooperation of the whole industry to propel from the downstream to the upstream, and to set more and better standards for the industry from the system end, so that the industry can gain more significant development and progress.

Is there the so-called “root technology” for the photovoltaic industry? What other “root technologies” does the industry need to make layout?Dr. YANG Liyou believes that at present, China is fully independent in cell modules, silicon wafers, silicon materials and other aspects. Although there are still patent lawsuits and theoretical differences, it will not actually affect the development of the photovoltaic industry. China’s complete photovoltaic industry chain has taken the lead in the world.

In addition to new trends and opportunities of industry development, Dr. Liyou Yang shared the latest development of Jinergy’s HJT mass production technology. Dr. Yang said that HJT cells are featured by high photoelectric conversion efficiency, excellent performance and large room for cost reduction, thus becoming one of the main competitors of the next-generation mainstream technologies. As one of the first manufacturers in China to realize mass production of HJT technology, Jinergy has been increasing investment and efforts in R&D. The average mass production efficiency of Jinergy’s super-high efficiency HJT cell has currently achieved 23.85% and is expected to reach 24.2% by the end of 2020.Moreover, the first HJT M6 cell of Jinergy’s Phase II 100MW HJT construction project has been successfully rolled off the production line.

In terms of the cost of HJT, Dr. Yang said that Jinergy had currently improved the product efficiency and yield steadily by optimizing silicon wafer, texturing, cleaning, metallization and other technological processes. With further R&D of related domestic equipment and the gradual increase of domestic low-cost material suppliers in the future, the potential of HJT will continue to emerge.

He said, “Although the development of photovoltaic industry is very difficult, the future of the industry is bright. Jinergy will adhere to the core strategy of technology iteration, continue to improve its own technology R&D level, and join hands with practitioners in the industry to contribute to the high-quality development of the photovoltaic industry.”
