Jinergy’s HJT Is Ready for the “Fourteenth Five-Year Plan”

2020 is the last year of the national “Thirteenth Five-Year Plan” and also the year for finalizing the “Fourteenth Five-Year Plan”. The photovoltaic industry is moving from an era of subsidies to an era of grid parity. Under the industry trends of cost reduction and efficiency enhancement, new technologies such as large wafer and half-cut, MBB, HJT and TopCon are emerging constantly. Technology iteration in photovoltaic industry is accelerating.

HJT enjoys many advantages such as high conversion efficiency, high potential for efficiency improvement, large space for cost reduction, and fewer technological process, etc., so it has become one of the ultimate solutions for future cell technology and has been recognized by the industry as a candidate technology for the next generation of commercial photovoltaic production. As one of the first domestic manufacturers to commercialize HJT, Jinergy has been continuously increasing R&D investment and efforts to promote HJT R&D and process improvement. The average mass production efficiency of the super high efficiency HJT cell has reached 23.85%. It is expected that by the end of this year, the average efficiency of mass production will reach 24%.

Although HJT enjoys significant advantages in LCOE, the cost factor has hindered the further promotion of HJT. In order to solve this problem, Jinergy has been devoting to cost reduction from the aspects of conductive silver paste, TCO target materials, texturing additive and so on. Besides, Jinergy has also optimized the silicon wafer, texturing, cleaning, metallization and other processes, thus to have steadily improved the product efficiency and yield. Jinergy’s bifacial HJT module with superposition of large wafer, MBB and half-cut technologies has achieved mass production while integrated power output reaches up to 530W.

Dr. Liyou Yang, general manager of Jinergy, said, “We are planning to launch a second HJT production line, including both the cell and module. The cost test is currently being carried out through the prototype, and it is expected to be confirmed in the second half of 2020. It is believed that with the continuous cost reduction in all aspects and more and more enterprises joining the ranks of HJT, the pace of HJT commercialization is expected to accelerate, which will contribute to the accelerated arrival of the era of comprehensive gird parity.”
