JINERGY developer forum held successfully, building up quality and efficient pv ecosystem

On May 23, “JINERGY Developer Forum” hosted by Jinneng Clean Energy Technology Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “JINERGY”) - the No. 1 PV module manufacturer of Shanxi, was held in Shanghai Dongjiao State Guest Hotel. The forum aims to accelerate technology innovation in the PV industry, to get through the collaboration links of the upstream and downstream industry chain, and to build up a JINERGY ecosystem which can improve the module efficiency, ensure module quality, reduce module degradation and withstand environmental impacts.

Dr. YANG Liyou, General Manager of JINERGY, said in his opening speech, “Today, China has risen to become the world's largest PV market and take the lead in the global PV industry, which is inseparable from the joint efforts of the industry leaders, technical experts and every other practitioner in PV industry. Along with the advent of the third industrial revolution, China's PV industry will face a new round of earth-shaking changes; therefore, as a new energy enterprise facing energy revolution directly, we will seize this significant industry opportunity, struggle to break through various technical difficulties faced by the industry at present, committing to making PV power generation serve millions of households and becoming an trillion-yuan industry, which requires the joint efforts of all the colleagues here”.

“Same as the semiconductor industry, the development of PV industry also follows the Moore’s Law, which means that the PV industry will also experience the periodic and almost endless technological progress and iteration, and ultimately achieve the goal of grid-parity. As an energy leading enterprise based in Shanxi, we decided to join the PV industry that has great development potential in a new round of energy development and transformation, and push forward the decrease of Levelized Cost of Electricity(LCOE) together with people from all walks of life of the industry. “We believe that by year 2020, it is expected that the LCOE will reach 0.55 yuan/ kWh, and we will embrace this exciting moment together at that time,” said Dr. YANG Liyou.

 “However, the core problems restricting the sustainable development of the PV industry are the insufficiency of production capacity of highly efficiency module, investors’ income decrease caused by severe degradation of PV modules, the module’s power generation failing to achieve the desired design capacity caused by environment impacts, and frequent complaints on module quality. These are the four major key factors directly affecting the ROI of solar projects,” Dr. YANG Liyou pointed out that “therefore, on this occasion of exchange of technology development, we introduce three new products with the cutting-edge PV technology which will help to further reduce the LCOE and ultimately achieve the final goal of grid-parity.”

Three cutting-edge technologies launched hitting straightly on the four pain points of the PV industry

In the first JINERGY Developer Forum, JINERGY presented three high-technology products to the insiders, including high efficiency polycrystalline module, high efficiency monocrystalline PERC module and ultra-efficient heterojunction module.

 

Dr. YANG Liyou introduced, “At present, the share of mass produced high efficiency 270W module has broken through 78.29%, taking the leading position in the industry. At the same time, to further meet future market demand for high efficiency products, we have introduced high efficiency polycrystalline module (SILVER) adopting Ga-doped silicon wafer combined with four-busbar design and dual-printing cell technology, which has excellent performance of anti-PID and resistance to salt mist, and can withstand 5400Pa snow load and 2400Pa wind load. We expect that by year 2017 the share of high efficiency 270W module can reach 90%, which will greatly ease the problem of scarcity of high efficiency capacity.

At the same time, the new product of high efficiency monocrystalline module (GOLD) adopting backside passivation PERC + technology and atomic layer deposition technology can effectively reduce the occurrence of “light-induced degradation (LID)” of cells and modules, the average cell efficiency can reach 21%; degradation of products with PERC + technology can be smaller compared with that of mono products with conventional PERC technology.

According to the latest technology roadmap released by JINERGY, it is expected that by year 2017, the share of JINERGY’s 290W mono PERC module will break through 70%; by 2018, the share of 295W high efficiency products is expected to exceed 50%, the share of 300W high efficiency modules is expected to achieve 30%, which remain to be the industry-leading technology.

In addition, because of the complicated climate conditions of China, the actual module power generation often fails to achieve the desired power output. Aiming at this industrial pain point, JINERGY launched a special ultra-high efficiency heterojunction (HJT) module (DIAMOND). This product adopts N-type bi-facial cell structure, delivering a better response to week light, ultra-low temperature coefficient (-0.27%/℃), ultra-low degradation, and 135% power generation per unit area compared with conventional poly products. “In this year, we expect the front side efficiency of HJT cell can reach 22%, and correspondingly the power of module made of 60 pieces bi-facial cells is expected to reach 300W. We believe that by year 2020, along with the continuous improvement, the HJT technology is expected to push down LCOE to 0.55 yuan/kWh, thus realize grid-parity.”

Building up of intelligent quality control system to create the PV core ecosystem 

 

In the current developer forum, JINERGY highlighted its carefully constructed quality control system. Dr. YANG Liyou said, “Along with the gradual disappearance of China’s demographic dividend, production automation has become an inevitable trend in the development of PV industry. Currently, JINERGY adopts online monitoring devices, mainframe of data analytic center and automatic production machines, has formed a complete set of online SPC closed loop system and realized precise control of production chains, and will ultimately realize the automation, intelligence and traceability of production.”

 

 “Meanwhile, to further reduce LCOE, we also plan to work in aspects of tracking system, inverter system, intelligent control system, financing costs, etc., so as to reduce the cost of electricity from various aspects, improve project ROI and further promote the sustainable development of China’s PV industry through the ecosystem.”

Strategic partnership agreements to promote the development of PV technology hand in hand

 

Furthermore, in JINERGY Developer Forum, JINERGY established strategic cooperative partnership with four upstream and downstream enterprises of PV industry chain: Rixin Technology, Applied Materials, Inc., Centrotherm, and Poly GCL.
