Total Production of JINERGY High-Efficiency and Super High-Efficiency PV Modules Expected to Exceed 3GW in 2018

On 27 September, the Symposium on High-Efficiency PV Cell and Module Technology to Support PV Top Runner Program of the Conference on Backstop Technologies for PV Power Generation at Grid Parity in the “13th Five-Year” Plan Period was grandly held in Beijing, which was organized by State Key Laboratory of PV Materials & Technologies, State Key Laboratory of PV Science & Technology and PV Think Tank (PVTT). Leading experts of the industry and representatives from leading enterprises gathered together on the conference, exchanging ideas about key topics, including the latest progress in the development of high-efficiency cells and modules, and difficulties in and cost reduction for technological innovation and development.

LI Gaofei, Director Technological R&D of Jinneng Clean Energy Technology Ltd. (JINERGY), a leading enterprise with global top 5% advanced PV capacity, attended the conference upon invitation and gave a speech on LCOE Drives Industrialization Technology Progress. He also highlighted that cost reduction of PV modules and inverters would become more difficult in the future, while costs related to labor, land, support construction and the amount of modules tending to rise. Therefore, the most effective approach to reduce cost of PV electricity generation lies in improving the efficiency and capacity of electricity generation of modules.

2016 is the first year of the “13th Five-Year” plan period. Domestic PV industry is dedicated to improving the conversion efficiency of PV electricity generation and cut the LCOE cost. The “13th Five-Year Plan” of Solar PV (draft) is proposed to constantly cut the cost of PV projects and its electricity generation by 30% in 2020, compared with that in 2015. Industrial experts agreed that PV Top Runner Program would fuel the innovation with regard to R&D and large-scale application of advanced PV technology, so as to promote the sustainable development of PV market.

To facilitate the overall transformation and upgrading of domestic PV industry, JINERGY, a Top Runner certified PV manufacturer in Shanxi, has strictly followed its rolling development strategy of “production, research & development and reserve”. According to LI Gaofei, JINERGY’s high-efficiency polycrystalline PV modules through conventional production processes boasts low rate of LID and excellent anti-PID performance. With optimized grid line, CTM and reflectivity from the rear side, JINERGY has reached a technical level much higher than the requirements of Top Runner Program. The capacity of high-efficiency polycrystalline PV modules has surmounted 275W. Currently, the output rate of 270W high-efficiency PV modules in mass production has reached nearly 80% and that of 275W high-efficiency polycrystalline PV modules will surpass 30% by 2016 Q4. Moreover, JINERGY’s capacity of conventional high-efficiency polycrystalline cells and modules has been enlarged to 1.1GW

In addition, JINERGY is dedicated in the development of high-efficiency polycrystalline PV modules, high-efficiency PERC monocrystalline PV modules and super high-efficiency HJT PV modules, so as to enable a further cut in the LCOE cost. LI Gaofei explained it by taking 60 pieces of 270W high-efficiency polycrystalline PV modules as a reference. The output power of a super high-efficiency HJT PV module could be raised by 11% to 300W, representing a 20% increase of electricity generation efficiency. Supposing that the service life of high-efficiency HJT PV modules is 25 years, then the LCOE cost of such a power station will decrease to RMB 0.4 by 2020. In the future, JINERGY will focus on improving the mass production of high-efficiency PERC monocrystalline PV modules and super high-efficiency HJT PV modules while maintaining the capacity of conventional high-efficiency polycrystalline cells and modules. The total production of high-efficiency and super high-efficiency PV modules of JINERGY is estimated to exceed 3GW by the end of 2018.
