Jinergy: Mass Production Efficiency of HJT Expected to Exceed 24.2%

On July 21, the Photovoltaic Industry Chain Supply Forum 2020 sponsored by China Photovoltaic Industry Association was held online. Dr. YANG Liyou, General Manager of Jinergy, was invited to attend the forum. At the forum, Dr. YANG expressed his views on the latest development of HJT cell technology and the latest development process of domestication of high-efficiency cell equipment including HJT.

With the advent of the era of parity, photovoltaic companies have been seeking technological breakthroughs to further reduce the LCOE (levelized cost of energy). Dr. YANG said that HJT cell has currently become one of the promising future cell technology solutions in the industry for such advantages as high photoelectric conversion efficiency, excellent performance, and large room for cost reduction. As a powerful candidate for the next-generation mainstream technologies, HJT and PERC have the similar development process. After 2-3 years of tentative mass production, the conversion efficiency and cost can be further improved, and the equipment can be simpler while the production efficiency can be further improved.

As one of the first manufacturers in China to realize mass production of HJT technology, Jinergy has been insisting the technology strategy of iterative development. Through increasing investment and efforts in research and development, the average mass production efficiency of Jinergy’s super-high efficiency HJT cell has currently achieved 23.85% and is expected to reach 24.2% by the end of 2020. In addition, Jinergy has improved the product efficiency and yield steadily by optimizing silicon wafer, texturing, cleaning, metallization and other technological processes.

At the forum, Dr. YANG further expressed that based on the multiple advantages of HJT technology, the further R&D of related domestic equipment and the gradual increase of domestic low-cost material suppliers, the potential of HJT will continue to emerge. In the future, the company will adhere to the core strategy of technology iteration, continuously improve its own technology R&D level, and promote the development process of HJT technology.
